20 Years of Poetry
This is an entry in my notebook.
Dear reader,
August 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Read A Little Poetry.
What does it mean to tend something for two decades? I believe with my whole heart that poems matter—they are bridges between human experiences, medicine for the soul, and proof that we are not alone in our joy or our suffering.
I’ve witnessed this project grow beyond what I ever imagined it could become. This living archive of poems have been visited by thousands of readers seeking solace, inspiration, and connection. I’ve seen how a single poem shared at the right moment can change someone’s entire day—or life.
Twenty years of tending has taught me that consistency is a form of love. Every poem I posted was an act of faith in the power of language to heal and transform.
Poems We Carry
I’m honoured to present “Poems We Carry“—a special anniversary series featuring beloved writers as guest curators. Each of them has selected one poem they love and shared why it matters to them. Some have also recorded audio or video reflections, adding their voices to the project in a deeply personal way.
This series embodies the true spirit of Read A Little Poetry: holding poets to the light. Here, everyone lifts up the work of others—celebrating poems that have shaped them, sustained them, or simply stopped them in their tracks. It’s a beautiful weaving of literary appreciation that spans generations, cultures, and styles.
Every day throughout August and beyond, you’ll discover a new curator and their chosen poem. It’s a celebration not just of this living archive’s 20 years, but of the timeless tradition of finding and sharing the work that moves us.
With Gratitude
Twenty years feels both like a lifetime and like just the beginning. This living archive exists because of every person who has read, shared, commented, and carried these poems forward into their own lives. You have made this quiet corner of the internet a place of deep connection and discovery.
To the poets whose work fills these pages, to the readers who find meaning in these daily offerings, to everyone who has supported this project in ways both seen and unseen—thank you.
Your presence has transformed what began as a personal passion into something much larger: a testament to poetry’s power to heal, inspire, and unite us.
Here’s to the poems still waiting to be discovered, the voices yet to be heard, and the moments of recognition that await us all.
The conversation continues.
Yours,
T.

Your work consisted reminds me of a writer’s need for patience and persistence—and a love of words. Thank you…
